The Church of Greater Lansing Network celebrates how God worked through His body to significantly advance His kingdom in the Greater Lansing area, as we partnered to feed the hungry!

If you participated in Food Drop 2010 and have a good report or story that would encourage, edify, or further build up the body of Christ, please share it with us so we can celebrate together! You were the hands, feet, eyes, and ears of the body as we ministered together on February 21st. We would love to hear what God did in you personally or through you in service to the community. Thank you again for doing your part to make a difference in the lives of over 10,000 people! To God be the glory.

Click on the link above to begin sharing your story...but note that your borwser's back arrow won't refresh your entry so you will not be able to make changes once you submit your work. Your story will not appear immediately, so check back later. Finally, please respect the people involved, and don't identify them in your story.

Sharing the love of Christ

Mar 17 2010 - 8:18am

Words can not describe how I felt while delivering the food box. Myself and another family delivered food to a number of persons who were either elderly or disabled in the same building. The building was a high rise apartment complex in downtown Lansing (Riverfront). I was struck most by the gratitude and love shared by the people we delivered to, how appreciative they were of what we were doing. What was cool the next week were the reactions of people I worked with who had heard about the Food Drop, one person particularly who lives in Bay City. They were so inspired by what I shared, they told me they were going to approach their priest about delivering food to the elderly and disabled in her community
Praise God!!

No words needed

Mar 8 2010 - 10:43am

The group I was with delivered to Capitol Commons Apartments downtown Lansing. I don't remember the peoples names I was with, but one lady we delivered a box to couldn't speak English. I don't know if she was Polish or German, I don't know what language she was speaking. Anyway we gave her the box and she was trying to call on her telephone, probably a family member so we could talk to them who we were. She couldn't reach anyone while we waited for her. So we asked if we could pray by hand gestures and she shook her head so we prayed, and left. The other lady I was with had to go back down the hall to get to the stairs to leave, the lady was in her doorway trying to see if she could find us. She saw us and pulled us into her apartment! She had gotten hold of her daughter-n-law on the telephone so we could talk to her! I talked to the daughter-n-law and let her know who we were and what we were there for. She thanked us and the lady gave us a big grandma hug and kiss on the cheek. We know she was grateful for our visit that day! Praise God!

Special time shared with son

Mar 8 2010 - 10:38am

Thank you for the opportunity to serve. My 18-year-old son, Ross, and I helped deliver to residents at the Capitol Towers. It was a wonderfully spiritual experience that we both want to repeat next year. One elderly woman there, a widow, had just lost her son-in-law to a debilitating illness. The resulting home foreclosure also forced her daughter out of their home. She was clearly in distress and appreciated our visit as much as the food box. Our prayers and blessing were very comforting to her. Another resident we visited had immigrated from Cuba. She spoke very little English, but wanted to express her appreciation. The other parent in our two-family team spoke to her in Spanish. She lit up as he could easily communicate with her, listen to her concerns and offer a prayer. Again, the comfort we provided this woman by overcoming the language barrier was every bit as important as the food. Ross, who has taken two years of Spanish, listened to the conversation and gained a special appreciation for his studies. Praise God for such an awesome outreach!

Excellent Rally!

Mar 7 2010 - 10:16am

It was a great day and it went so smoothly, what a great team effort from all the churches partnering together. God was honored and glorified in the event and it was a "tremendous success for the Kingdom of God!"

I thought the Rally was excellent, such passion and enthusiasm from the platform from the Pastors/leaders especially and from the crowd. From the families we took food boxes to we met two different families who recently moved here from Iraq! Wow, that was really cool. There were so kind and gracious. One family from Iraq was a family of 5 living in a tight two bedroom apartment. I was so impressed with their humility and gratefulness. All of all of the families and family members we interacted with were so welcoming, asked us to sit down, and again were very humble in receiving the food box.
