Food Drop Information

How This Works

As The Church of Greater Lansing, we are committed to responding once again!  30+ area churches have committed to sponsor Food Drop 2010! These churches have committed to collecting an offering on Christmas Eve that is solely dedicated to feeding the hungry in the Greater Lansing Area.  We are purchasing semi-trucks of food boxes from the Mid-Michigan Food Bank (that will feed an entire family for a week or an individual for 4 weeks) and then collaborating to distribute them to the doors of 3,000 local families.

How will this benefit our Church?

  • Connects new families in your neighborhood to your church (each church can pass out the attached “generic” flyer prior to November 9th, putting it on their organization's letterhead, and distributing it to needy families in their church neighborhood)
  • Meets the needs of those in our city
  • Expands the hearts of those in our congregation through giving
  • Encourages and equips our congregants to live a lifestyle of service
  • Unifies “The Body of Christ” by serving together
  • Testifies that Christ was sent by God as we Christians work together (John 18:23)
  • Shows our community Christians can work together

Partnership Commitments

  • Prayer:  Encourage your intercessors and staff to be praying for: Event, Volunteers, Churches involved, Community, Logistics, Finances, and Families receiving food.
  • Vision:  A week or two before the Christmas Eve collection begin to cast vision to your congregation sharing how they can pray, give, and serve and help be a part of the solution.
  • Giving:  During your Christmas Eve service encourage your members to participate through giving by providing a special offering where every penny is designated to go toward the purchase of food for those in our community.

    • Please mail funds to Trinity Church by 1/4/10 noted for "Food Drop" and payable to: Trinity Church, 3355 Dunckel Rd, Lansing, MI 48911
  • Service:  On 2/21/10 encourage your church family to join in and help unload the trucks and distribute food to the doors of Lansing families in need.
